The am’Reekan Cappuccino.

It is not difficult to answer the question: What is a cappuccino? Everybody knows that the Capuchin Monks were ( or are responsible ) for the beverage’s name and its constituents. You can read about it here if you like.  It tells about the fraternity and that they were responsible for the drink we now know to represent the “Cappuccino”.

All objects however are a repository for their quiddity ( their essence, their essential quality).  Looking at a cappuccino one may wonder what is its essential quality ( quiddity ).

I believe an essential quality must be the same, no matter what instrument or person is looking at the object under observation. Therefore saying that the essence of a cappuccino is to satisfy or nourish may not be true to some people. Those who are allergic to milk or who have religious rites which does not allow the use of milk on occasions are testifying that some other features must be the real essential qualifications.

Perhaps if one takes assistance from Tao ( the Chinese philosophy promoted by Lao Tzu ) to answer the question of essence. The famous example is the cup. The cup’s usefulness is to hold liquid. Therefore the essential part of a cup is its hollowness which will allow the usefulness to surface.

After reading this post, one may ask at this stage, what cappuccino has to do with this nebulous concept of am’reekan issue which is in the title of the post?

I like to bring forth the fact that America in Arabic is pronounced am’reeka ( with the accent on the letter r ). This pronunciation follows the English language-law that the accent should fall on the second syllable in a three syllable word.

A language to be descriptive and to contain some emotion not just to be a simple deposit of words in line, the language should have ( as in music ) additions which will enhance its delivery. In music there are aiding words such as “piano e non troppo” or “staccato.”

For example it is not unusual to give words shape in the form of contraction and create alteration as in WordPerfect or MicroSoft. My title of am’reekan contains many important emotional attributes for me because I consider the attributes of the change as the Tao considers the attributes of a cup. It is not usual to look at a cup where one appreciates the existence of nothing, as in the empty hollow of the cup to be the most desired quality. Considering something essential to promote dislike or like which the word should carry is never expressed by the shape of the words and I think it is time to have such facility to promote the antagonism for politically overpowering correctness. In the Transylvanian cuneiform language one was able to transmit feelings. Let me give you an example in the case of Microsoft Office.  I believe that the office program of MicroSoft corporation is so inferior to OpenOffice ( My disdain would be expressed through the creatively altered spelling of mICROsOFToFFICE ). Why do I consider OpenOffice to be superior against the giant corporation’s product of Microsoft Office? First, because it costs nothing.  Second, is compatible with all Microsoft Office products up till 2007 Office and thirdly all help is given without having to pay for excessively over priced books.

But back to am’reeka or am’reekan.  I feel that as a nation, the American quiddity ( the essence of the thing ) is incompatible with the majority of nations on earth, just starting with the concept of user pays.  After the infection of the Presidential qualities of President George W. Bush into the integrity of the American psyche the am’reekan nation (in my humble opinion ) has lost the right to have its name spelled with a capital letter.  In fact during the few years President Bush rained as the terrorist exterminator, am’reeka wreaked. So now one may understand the play on letters and sounds when reading the word am’Reeka. I found such contractions extremely powerful.  am’reeka means that americans are wreaking in a major way.

How does the cappuccino fits into this recent picture? Well the quiddity of a cappuccino rests in the fact that there is a lot of froth on top, meaningfully decorated with some swirly pattern with cocoa powder which has no relationship to the drink, such as the image of a pine tree. It is mostly air and hardly any substance that would add to the quality of the drink and only would appeal to the form rather than to the quality. The froth on the top covers the reduced essence inside and under the cover.  I find a deep resemblance between reality of the American nation as a whole and the metaphor of  the cappuccino.

Have I offended many good hearted Americans? I hope not. I hope to discover the quiddity of the nation and as promised I would search for support in my convictions and then even those offended people will need to agree with me.

I had the opportunity to play an old movie at a friend’s house. The title of the movie was “A Time to Kill”.  Some readers would be too young to know about it.  The events of the film are happening in the deep south. Two men attack, beat, abuse, rape and hang unsuccessfully a ten year old black African/American girl.  Needless to say the wrongdoers were white. The father of the girl shoots dead the two guilty whites in the courthouse where they were taken before a judge. After the black father was prosecuted and was to be judged by an all white jury, the assumption was that the black killer will be convicted to death. As it happens he got dismissed.

While watching the movie, I had heard the news that some politicians were openly talking about assassinating their president: President Obama.

That was the time I coined the title of this post:  “The am’Reekan Cappuccino.” It describes a nation that is nothing but froth on the top, well decorated and covers up the fact that there is less milk in the cup and contains mostly air under a tall, attractive looking and well decorated air cushion.

Perhaps the future development in the English language will be in the domain of shape shifting. That way, one can tell the truth and will be visible by all and definitely will deal with the quiddity of the subjects it will decorate uniquely and provide individual views to be displayed for all to see. I mean, that if the sensitive world would spell President George W. Bush’s presidency as the power that has created “am’REEKa” is a fitting change in the English language. The presidency of the new politician needs to be the re-constructor of that part of America which understands that there is a need for no deception between the terms terrorist and partisan. The reason I make this distinction is that every American Indian was not a terrorist defending their America from the hordes that destroyed their lifestyle, but were the partisans ( as the Russians were called ) against the invading armies. am’reeka will regain its integrity when killing presidents, shooting up the Muslims, dispatching devastating factories which poison people, will stop because nothing is solved with a gun in the long run.

Why is this big change I am promoting necessary for the people of am’reeka? Because it is most curious but small people, small nations are able to spell their name with capital letters while the so called greatest of nations is not able to. am’reeka will only be able to belong to the peoples of the world when it will understand that humanity has a long memory. A long memory is what created the hatred toward nations who claimed to be the chosen nation to rule the rest of the small and the world remembers many thousands of years. In H.G. Wells’s book “War of the Worlds,” the great army of the Martian empire was not defeated by guns but by the smallest of the living things: bacteria.

I am not promoting biological warfare. What the message is that small people can be tormented, enslaved, their homes devastated or just acquired by force, but “beware the ides of March” ( as Caesar was warned ).
